Berklee Performance Center Concerts Spring ‘85 April17 THE LORD IS MY LIGHT Il — The Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble —directed by David Chandler, with faculty advisor Orville Wright — will present an evening of traditional and contemporary gospel music. April 18 SONGWRITERS NIGHT — Winners of the Berklee Songwriters Competition will present their songs under the direction of faculty composer Pat Pattison. April 22 THE BERKLEE WIND ENSEMBLE — Faculty composer/tubist Greg Fritze leads this outstanding orchestra in a concert of contemporary classical music. April 24 LA MASHINE — An evening of “techno-pop-fusionjazz” is presented by faculty synthesist David S. Mash. April 25 THE BERKLEE SINGERS SHOWCASE — Some of Berklee's finest vooalistsjoin together for a varied concert of arrangements written especially for this event in a vanety of styles under the direction of the Performance Studies Department. April 29 PLAYI— Facuity drummer David Weigert leads a small ensemble in a program of fusion music. April 30 GUITAR NITE IX — The Berklee Guitar Department presents its top ensembles in its annual showcase concert embracing all facets of guitar from jazz to bluegrass. May1 BERKLEE BOPPERS/MASS TRANSIT: EXPRESS — Faculty vocalist Cheryl Hodge leads the Berklee Boppers in a program of exciting vocal jazz to open this two part concert. Then faculty vocalist Charles Sorrento leads the Berklee vocal ensemble Mass Transit in a program of jazz, rock and rhythm & biues. May 2 TAKIN CARE OF BUSINESS 57 — The Berklee Country Music Band, led by faculty member Rob Rose with Yo Team Productions, presents an evening of Country and Western music and other styles by David Alan Coe, Lynard Skynard, Hank Williams and others as well as originals from members of the ensemble. May 6 MORE CHORD SCALE MADNESS — Faculty guitarist/arranger Jackson Schultz leads a 10-piece student ensemble through a program of contemporary jazz. May 7 PERCUSSION UNLIMITED — Berklee’s premier percussion ensemble under the direction of department chairman Dean Anderson, will perform contemporary percussion music including works of John Cage and faculty composer John Bavicchi. May 8 THE STUDIO ORCHESTRA CONCERT — Faculty composer/arranger Donny Nolan leads this stellar ensemble in an evening of jazz, pop, rock and classical originals and compositions by top student writers. May9 BACKBAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Faculty trombonist Ben Elkins leads the 18-piece Back Bay Brass in a concert of original big band jazz. May 13 THE COLLEGE SINGERS IN CONCERT — Vocal Department Chairman Ken Greenhouse leads this 40-voice chorus in a program of vocal music drawn from a variety of 20th century styles.
