ULANOWSKY'S BLUES REUNION — Faculty pianist/composer/arranger Alex Ulanowsky presents an evening of traditional and contemporary jazz in a variety of settings featuring the composing/arranging talents of Barrie Nettles, Ted Pease and Larry Monroe. Special guests will include vocalist Ruthie Ristich, saxophonists Larry Monroe and Greg Badolato and trumpeter Jeff Stout. Double Concert— AS | FEEL/JUST LOOKING AT THE SKY — Bassist Yoshihiko Suwa opens this double concert with a program of straight-ahead jazz for quintet. Guitarist Kazuhiko Michishita concludes this evening’s program with a program of original Latin-jazz fusion with special guest trumpeter Tiger Okoshi. LENNIE PETERSON'S TOOT (THE ASSAULT) — Faculty trombonist/vocalist Lennie Peterson leads his quintet in a program of original rock fusion. DUO: WALTER NORRIS AND PHIL WILSON — Faculty trombonist Phil Wilson is joined by renowned pianist Walter Norris for an evening of jazz standards in a duet setting with special guest trombonist Sam Sultonstall. FORWARD MOTION — Basist Terje Gewelt presents an evening of original acoustic jazz in the ECM tradition. Double Concert — THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER/THE MAN WITH THE HAT — Saxophonist Hideya Satoh leads a quartet in a program of jazz classics from the bebop repertoire. This will be followed in the second half by contemporary funk and fusion music by Darryl Brenzel and his sextet. AN EVENING WITH THE DUES BAND — Faculty trombonist Phil Wilson leads one of Berklee's premier ensembles, The International Dues Band, through a program of contemporary big band jazz with special guest, famed trombonist Urbie Green. Double Concert — PICTURES OF MEMORIES/A NEW DIMENSION — Jazz originals by pianist Alain Mallet will be performed by a trio including faculty drummer Joe Hunt and guest vocalist Darelle Holden. The concert will continue as keyboardist James Varner presents a program of rhythm and blues for a small ensemble. Double Concert — MUSICAL ARCHITECTS/THE CHICAGO BAND — Guitarist Benjamin Rodefer opens this two-for-one concert with modemn jazz in the ECM style followed in the second half by the Berklee Chicago Band playing the famed group’s pop/rock compositions under the direction of faculty trumpeter/arranger Dennis Cecere. THE LORD IS MY LIGHT Il — The Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble — directed by David Chandler, with faculty advisor Orville Wright — will present an evening of traditional and contemporary gospel music. SONGWRITERS NIGHT — Winners of the Berklee Songwriters Competition will present their songs under the direction of faculty composer Pat Pattison. THE BERKLEE WIND ENSEMBLE — Faculty composer/tubist Greg Fritze leads this outstanding orchestra in a concert of contemporary class‘i'%al music. THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ BAND — Faculty composer/arranger Herb Pomeroy directs one of Zerkiee’s most exciting bands in an evening of contemporary jazz. LA MASHINE — An evening of “techno-pop-fusion-jazz” is presented by faculty synthesist David S. Mash.
