Berklee Performance Center Concerts

March 14- Contemporary Writing and Production Department Concert -
The Contemporary Writing and Production Department presents the 7th
annual concert featuring the writing of Majors in Contemporary Writing
and Production. A variety of pop/rock, fusion, jazz, and Latin composi-
tions and arrangements written and conducted by CWP Majors will be
performed by many of Berklee's talented student instrumentalists and
vocalists.

March 15 Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble - The Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble,
under the direction of faculty vocalist Robin Ginenthal, performs twentieth
century works inspired by folk music from around the word including Berio
and Ravel's “Folk Songs” Granados “Tonadillas” and Carter’s “Pastoral.”
The ensemble includes the following musicians: Robin Ginenthal soprano,
David Callahan conductor, Lisa De Siro piano, Masami Tomihasa piano,
Takumi Ozawa violin, Tokuhiro Doi clarinet, Kenji Kikuchi flute, Irina
Chirkova cello, David Schreiber viola, Emily Halpern Lewis harp, Vessela
Stoyanova percussion, Assen Stoyanov percussion and Weiley Lee piano.

March 26- Amel Larrieux - Drawing on a wealth of influences from hip-
hop, gospel and funky R&B, and with flashes of Middle Eastern, West
African and Indian ethnic styles, Amel Larrieux has recently released a
solo debut album titled Infinite Possibilities. Amel Larrieux was lead siren
and co-writer for the New York based duo Groove Theory. A collaborative
effort with ex-Mantronix member Bryce Wilson, Groove Theory ‘s debut
album for Epic eventually went gold on the heels of the smash single Tell
Me which broke the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Top Five
on the R&B charts before being certified gold in October 1995. Amel’s
voice and writing also atracted the attention of former Sade guitarist and
programmer Stuart Matthewman, who recruited her for two tracks on his
group Sweetback’s Epic album in 1995.

March 27- Pop/Rock Live - The 14th annual Rock Arranging Live concert
highlights the best music written by some of the most talented student
songwriters and arrangers. Under the direction of faculty members Mirek
Kocandrle and Richard Grudzinski, this concert will present a variety of
original compositions as well as new arrangements of standard rock/pop
repertoire featuring some of the college’s finest vocalists and instrumen-
talists. This year's concert features faculty member renowned singer/
songwriter Livingston Taylor.
