Berklee Performance Center Concerts July 20 - Eastern Exotica Groove Jams - Eastern exotica groove ‘ jams, experimentations with eastern melodies and heavy western grooves with Steve Jenkins on bass and Nikki Glaspie on drums pre- sented by faculty guitarist David Fiuczynski. July 21 - Daryl Lowery and Instant!Groove — The Hammond B3 is at the core of the funky soul-jazz grooves that provide a vehicle for improvi- . sations led by faculty saxophonist Daryl Lowery. The highly original sound of Instant!Groove, with faculty members Rick Peckham, guitar, Ron Mahdi, acoustic bass, Dennis Montgomery I, B3, and Yoron Israel, o drums, is reminiscent of the organ-based groups of John Scofield and draws much of its repertoire from the likes of “Big” John Patton, Ruben Wilson, Don Patterson and Leon Spencer. This concert will introduce some brand new music as well as selections from their recently released CD. July 22 - Scott Tarulli and Don Lappin — Rock fusion guitarists Tarulli and Lappin share the stage to play original compositions for drums, bass and 2 guitars. Songs performed will be drawn from Lappins CD Fine - Lines and Tarullis CD Transitions as well as some new material. July 28 — Son of a Gun! - Faculty drummer Dave Cowan and ESO present original rock music along the lines of Jimi Hendrix, Living Colour, Red Hot Chilli Pepers, Rage Against the Machine and Bad Brains. August 3 - Phil Wilson’s Rainbow Band presents A Tribute to Count Basie — Big band jazz with vocals by faculty member Christine Fawson will be performed under the direction of faculty composer/arranger/ v trombonist Phil Wilson in this tribute to the music of the great bandleader Count Basie.
