Berklee College of Music Concerts Berklee Performance Center October 6 - The Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble - Ear Training department faculty member vocalist Robin Ginenthal presents works for voice, piano, flute and brass quintet. October 7 - Ethos Percussion/Paramount Brass - Two sensational groups- Ethos Percussion and Paramount Brass- will combine their talents to create an explosive performance with works by Banchieri, Copland, Lutoslawski, Ginastera, Frank Zappa, and Jay Kennedy, Chair of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department. Ethos Percussion is dedicated to the advancement of the percussive arts in performance and education. Through virtuoso and entertaining performances its programming includes a vast variety of musical styles and eclectic assortment of percussion instruments from around the world. Boston’s acclaimed brass quintet, Paramount Brass, is hailed for its superb music- making and its marvelous rapport with audiences. Paramount Brass was the Grand Prize winner of the 1992 New York Brass Conference Quintet Competition and has released three compact discs. Recently, the quintet gave the world premiere of Daniel Pinkham’s Morning Music for brass and organ with Boston Symphony organist James David Christie. The Brass is currently Ensemble in Residence at the Boston Conservatory of Music. October 14 - Harmonic Harvest - Department Chair Barbara London and faculty member Joe Mulholland present the Harmony Department faculty in duo, trio, quartet and big band setting performing in a variety of styles. October 15 - Mo’ Mo’ Roots - Drummer Brian Butler presents funky raps, instrumentals and rhythm & blues compositions by James Brown, Otis Redding, Fred Wesley and Horace Silver. David Friend Recital Hall October 7 - Bruce Saunders & Jim Kelly - Guitar department faculty member Bruce Sanders presents his quartet performing jazz rock with faculty guitarist Jim Kelly, faculty bassist Winston Maccow and drummer Charles Haynes. October 13 - Suzanna Sifter - Piano department faculty member Suzanna Sifter presents her quintet performing jazz originals and standards. October 15 - Bruce Katz Band- Faculty member Bruce Katz performs original instrumental blues with elements of jazz, gospel, and rock on Hammond B-3 and piano with his quintet including guitar department faculty member Julien Kasper, drummer Ralph Rosen, bassist Mark Poniatowski and saxophonist Tom Hall.
