The Effortless Mastery Institute’s goal is to help artists achieve liberation when playing
and perfect concentration when practicing so that they can reclaim their love for their own
voice and allow their physical, emotional, and even spiritual energy to flow unobstructed by
fear and doubt. We at the EMI want to focus away from the negative voice in the mind and
into a larger space. In that space, all music is received as the most beautiful sounds we've
ever heard. The EMI helps students aim squarely at mastery and find the deepest place
inside themselves from which to make their music.

In this concert, Kenny Werner will be exploring very close, special relationships with
musicians who fit the definition of effortless masters. Werner has been playing with
George Garzone and Joe Lovano for over 40 years, starting when the three of them were
students at Berklee. His trio with Ari Hoenig and Johannes Weidenmueller has been
playing together for over 15 years. “We speak in our own distinctive voice and | am so
proud and pleased to introduce our trio to the Berklee community and the greater
Boston community,” Werner says.

The EMI holds regular forums to introduce students and faculty to techniques that will
help them reach their full creative potential. Besides instrumental skills, students can study
yoga, tai chi, body mapping, and Alexander Technique. For more information about
