BERKLEE PERFORMANCE CENTER CONCERTS SUMMER ‘84 August 8 KNOWLEDGE OF SELF: INSIGHT - Jazz, salsa, R & B and traditional music in a variety of settings will be presented by vocalist/saxophonist Anthony Grant. August 9 EAR CANDY SEPTET AND ORCHESTRA - 1In the first half of the concert the group "Ear Candy" will perform original jazz/rock compositions by members of the group. The second half will feature new compositions for alto saxophone and orchestra and a new Big Band arrangement of Tadd Dameron's "Lady Bird". Leader/trumpeter Mirek Kocandrle, will be joined by Berklee faculty members Bruce Nifong, Ken Taft, Wayne Naus, Ed Tomassi and others. August 13 ROCK STEADY - Faculty trombonist Tom Frazee leads Uplands, The Berklee Tower Of Power Band with guest Faculty trumpeter Jerry Cedco in an evening of classic selections from past Tower Of Power albums as well as some originals by Tom and other past and present band members. August 14 Double Concert - BILL HAMILTON/ THINGS IN ME - Pop music in a variety of vocal settings is offered by student conductor Bill Hamilton. The second half of the concert, directed by pianist/vocalist Ayelet Cogan, will feature original jazz, funk and R&B. August 15 BACK BAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHESTRA - Ben Elkins and his student Big Band returns to the Performance Center stage to present an evening of well known Big Band arrangements and original compositions.
