David Friend Recital Hall Concerts February 25 — Bruce Katz Organ Trio featuring‘Davi,d f‘Fatheéd” Newman — Faculty keyboardist Bruce Katz presents jazz and blues performed by organ, guitar, drums and special guest saxophonist David “Fathead” Newman. February 26, 4:00 pm Tell It Like It Tis’ - Faculty vocalist Armsted Christian presents a combination of jazz, Latin, R & B and spoken word originals and music by Nina Simone and Curtis Mayfield for an eight piece ensemble as part of Berklee's Black Hlstory Month Music Celebration. February 26 — Breaking the Rules - Breakmg the Rules is a new musical theater revue customized for the talents of vocalist Shannon Muhs. With music and lyrics by faculty composer Michael Wartofsky and David Reiffel, Breaking the Rules is directed for stage by Kevin Mark Kline. The revue of songs follows a woman on her journey as she discovers (then somehow misplaces) true love; ‘takes out her frustration on pedestrians, travels to outer space, sells water in the rain, and generally breaks all the rules. Soulful and funky one minute, classically ‘arty the next, this eclectic and dramatic revue features special guest vocalists Alisa Miles and John Dias, as well as faculty member Jeri Sykes , woodwinds, David McGrory and Muchael Wartofsky piano, and faculty percussnomst Rick Kress. March 1 — JoAnne Brackeen Quartet - Faculty pianist JoAnne Brackeen ‘performs original jazz_ with her quartet as part of Piano week activities. March 2 — Suzanne Davis - Faculty pianist Suzanne Davis performs jazz originals with Garth Stevenson, bass and Ziv Ravitz, drums as part of Piano Week activities. March 3 — Laszlo Gardony Trio - Faculty pianist Laszlo Gardony performs original jazz with his trio-faculty bassist John Lockwood and Assistant Chair of Percussion Yoron Israel- as part of Piano week activities. March 4 — Bob Christopherson - Faculty pianist Bob Christopherson performs as part of Piano Week activities. March 8 — Winnie Dahlgren - Faculty vibist Winnie Dahlgren present Latin-jazz originals for her quintet. ‘March 9 —Louis Stewart in Recital — Composiitons for Piano solo and saxo- phone with piano by Milhaud, Diamond, Hindemith, Ravel, Bernstein, Falla and Liszt will be performed by faculty pianist Louis Stewart.
