Berklee Performance Center Concerts April 5 - Songwriters Night 2004 - The Songwriting Department presents its an- nual “Songwriters’ Night” showcase featuring the best student songwriters and per- formers that Berklee has to offer. As in past years, Songwriter’s Night 2004 will treat the listener of a variety of styles, including Rock, Alternative Rock, Pop, Country, Metal, and Dance as well as a fusion of these styles under the direction of depart- ment chair Jack Perricone and faculty member John Stevens. This years winners - are: Matt Pryor, Kate Klim, Maya Rogers, Mat Levass, Yvette Rovira, Stacy Allyn Baker, Justin Molaison, Natalie Harris, Megan Kirschbaum & Joel Dean, Andrew Douglass, Rachel Loy, Tina Dawn, and Jesse Terry. April 7 — Writing Division Awards Concert- The Professional Writing Division presents it annual Awards Concert featuring award-winning writers from the divi- sion. The eclectic concert will feature works by David Utzinger (Composition), Hsiu- Yun (Claudia) Yang (Contemporary Writing and Production), Freddie Wiedman (Film Scoring), Oliver Rockberger (Harmony), Garth Stevenson (Jazz Composition), Jesse Terry (Songwriting), and Michael MacAllister (Millican Endowed Scholarship). April 12 — Wayne Krantz - Renowned guitarist Wayne Krantz performs as part of Guitar Week activities. April 13 — Guitar Student Showcase: Jazz & Blues — Under the direction of fac- ulty members Garrison Fewell and Curt Shumate, student led groups perform in jazz and blues styles. Thisyears concert will include Casper Gyldensoe, Masaki Minami, Kota Fujii, Bryan Baker, Masaharu Sasaki and David Linshaw. April 14 — Jon Finn- Guitar department faculty member Jon Finn performs original rock as part of Guitar Week activities. April 15 — Guitar Student Showcase: Rock & Pop — Under the direction of faculty members Lauren Passarelli and Jon Finn, student led groups perform in rock and pop styles. April 16 — Phil Wilson’s Rainbow Band 40" Anniversary Concert: A Berklee Jazz Festival — Phil Willson celebrates 40 years at the helm of his student big band with a variety of guest soloists who've performed with the band over the years. During the celebration, the college will present an honorary doctor of music degree to Phil Wilson. Making a special appearance with the 19-piece Rainbow Band will be the jazz vocal group Syncopation, featuring student vocalists Christy Bluhm ‘04, Tsunenori “Lee” Abe ‘04, Jeremy Ragsdale ‘05, and faculty trumpeter/vo- calist Christine Fawson ‘02, as well as alumna vocalist Alisa Miles ‘02.
