October 18 October 19 October 20 October 21 Berklee Performance Center Conceris FALL 1993 TECH KEYS: Brad Hatfield/Andy LaVerne—The Piano Department presents an evening of technology assisted keyboard music in a variety of styles and settings. In the first half, faculty member Brad Hatfield performs several original jazz, fusion, and pop compositions featuring faculty member Gaye Tolan Hatfield on flute and vocals. In the second half, guest artist Andy LaVerne will play original composi- tions from his albums on the Yamaha concert grand and use the Yamaha Disklavier grand along with it. SWEAT AND SOUR—Original jazz-fusion compositions for a septet will be performed by senior guitarist Philipp Van Endert with special guests faculty member Bret Willmott, guitar, and Pernell Saturnino, percussion. CHANGO, TE LLAMA/DESDE EL SUR—Student drummer Bertram Lehmann presents a set of Afro-Cuban jazz compositions performed by a sextet with featured soloists Jaques Swarzbart, tenor sax, and Juan Cruz de Urquiza, trumpet. Then, guitarist/vocalist/composer Claudio Bruzzese leads his sextet through an original program of Argentinian folk music with special guest Tomoko Iwamoto, violin. THE ACID TRUTH: The Berklee Buddy Rich Ensemble—Under the direction of Buddy Rich alumnus faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus, this ensemble will perform compositions and arrangements from the Buddy Rich library as well as high-powered Latin jazz arrangements in the Buddy Rich Band style.
