BERKLEE PERFORMANCE CENTER CONCERTS FALL ’83 | THEME AND VARIATIONS - The premiece perZormance of an criginal axtended work Zor octet as well as tunes by Chick Corea, James Van Heusen and ochers is offered by tenor saxophonistc/ clarinetist Jonn La Porta. THE SERKLEE SINGER'S SHOWCASE - A revue featuring nine of Berklee's hottest young singers is oresented by the Berklee PerZormance Studies Department. THE STUDIO ORCHESTRA CONCERT - The Studio Orchestra, comprised of some of Berklee's top perZormers, returns to the Performance Center stage to present a program of original®compositions and arrangements ranging from jazz to gop. B.J. BAND - An international funk Big Band containing scme of the finest instrumentalists from Berklee and the Boston area is directed by Bjorn Jorgensen and Anders Eriksson. AN EVENING WITH THE DUES BAND - Trombonist Phil Wilson leads The International Dues Band through an exciting program of 3ig Band jazz featuring the music of Duke Ellingten. SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY - Faculty member Mike Ihde directs the "Flat Rats and Sail Cats" through their annual concert of country, rock, pop and swing featuring Jim Woods on fiddle. TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS - MOTOWN II - Under the direction of Rob Rose, the Berklee Jazz/Rock Ensemble returns to the Per- formance Center stage with an exciting progr that features the music of Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, The 4~Tops and others arranged by Faculty members Mike Morris and Ken Zambello and some of Berklee's most talented student writers. BERKLEE CONCERT BAND - Under the direction of Greg Fritze, this concert will showcase some of Berklee's hottest woodwind, brass, and percussion players and feature the music of Alfred Reed, Fischer Tull, Vincent Persichetti and others. THE COLLEGE SINGERS - Directed by Kenneth Greenhouse, The Cdllege Singers will present selections ranging from twentieth century choral music to vocal jazz, including several of Greenhouse's arrangements. BACK BAY BRASS - "CONSUMMATION" DIRECTED BY BEN ELXINS - The Back Bay Brass, a 25 piece jazz orchestra, presents a program that features original compositions by Faculty Trombonist Ben Elkins as well as music by the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra.
