Concurrent Session V Copyright Q&A 22 Fenway, Room 204 As an educator at a performing arts college, you may be using copyright-protected works as teaching tools. You may be creating new copyrighted works in collaboration with your students in the classroom. You may even be collaborating with students in projects outside of the college. Do you know what is permissible under the doctrine of fair use and what requires permission from the rights owners? Do you know the basics of copyright law when collaborating with students inside and outside of the classroom (e.g., who owns the work, who controls its use, and who is entitled to a share of any revenue generated)? Your questions are welcomed. —Presented by: Valerie Lovely —Hosted by: Kenn Brass Bruce Gertz Quintet: Guilford Sound Recording Residency Experience 1140 Boylston Street, Room 1A The Guilford Sound Recording Residency is one of three artist residency programs supported by the Office of Faculty Development. Guilford Sound is a newly constructed recording facility located in the foothills of the Green Mountains in Guilford, Vermont. With this one-studio, energy-efficient site, owners Dave Snyder and Sara Coffey have dedicated themselves to providing artists a serene environment to create new work. This one-week residency is open to faculty, chairs, and deans. During this session, the 2016 Guilford Sound Recording Residency group will perform some of the music they created while in Vermont, share photos, and discuss their residency experience, including the preparation, equipment, engineering, housing, and programming of daily sessions. —Presented by: Bruce Gertz, Andy Edelstein, Dino Govoni, Steve Hunt, and Casey Scheuerell —Hosted by: Mary McClory
