Berklee Performance Center Concerts SPRING ‘86 Feb. 11 MODERN INDUSTRY — Original compositions, mixing elements of Jazz, funk and spoken word in a variety of settings, will be performed by faculty guitarist Anthony Peterson and his group, Voices of Modern Industry. Feb. 12 Double Concert — LOCOMOTIVE TRUTH/SIDNEY ORTHE BUSH II — Original progressive rock by Locomotive Truth, a quartet led by drummer Dan Bash and keyboardist Jake Mandel, opens this double concert. In the second half, trombonist Steve Armour leads his trio and quintet in a program of contemporary acoustic jazz. Feb. 18 SOLITUDE — Senior trombonist/composer Delfeayo Marsalis presents an evening of jazz in a variety of settings from quartet to large ensemble. Special guests include drummer Jason Marsalis, bassist Bob Hurst, and faculty members Donald Brown, piano, and Walter Beasley, saxophone. Feb. 24 BILL MOBLEY, BILL PIERCE AND FRIENDS — An all-star group, led by faculty trumpeter Bill Mobley and featuring faculty saxophonist Bill Pierce, performs original modern jazz with special guest, guitarist Joe Cohn. Feb. 25 THE JONES BROTHERS AND FRIENDS — As part of the Black Music Celebration at Berklee, vocalist/drummer Maxwell, vocalist/vibist Herbert and vocalist/pianist Clyde Jones will perform modern jazz with faculty bassist John Neves. Ensemble Department Chairman Orville Wright will host an informal interview/rap session. Jazz films Dizzy and After Hours will also be shown. Feb. 26 SID THE KID FEATURING DR. WARRICK CARTER — Dean of Faculty Dr. Warrick Carter presents senior composer/arranger/saxophonist Sidney Smith performing jazz and fusion for sextet and, in the second half of the show, original “Top 40” compositions featuring student vocalist Darelle Holden. Feb.27 BOBBY JONES AND NEW LIFE — Internationally known gospel singer Bobby Jones will perform with Ensemble Department Chair- man Orville Wright and the Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble in an evening of traditional and contemporary gospel music. Mar.4 Double Concert— GAMBO COMPANY/IN THE FIRST STEP— Bassist Naoki Matsuura opens this concert with original contem- orary jazz-rock performed by his quartet, The Gambo Company. In the second half, the group First Step, led’by composer/bassist Koichi Osamu, performs original fusion music.
