Herb Pomeroy Herb Pomeroy. a national leading figure in the field of jag. is. Instructor of Arranging, Composition and Brass at Berklee College of Music. A Berklee Alumnus, Pomeroy attended Harvard University prior to his enroliment at the College. Upon completion of his studies he toured with Charlie Parker, Stan Kenton and Lionel Hampton as trumpeter-arranger and recorded extensivel~ on Capitol. Roulette and United Artists labels. Since 1955 he*as been a member of the Berklee faculty. In addition to his work with the College’s Recording Band he has been responsible for the creation of several unique classes in Advanced Scoring. He researched and organized the material for his course, “Arranging In The Style Of Duke Ellingfon.” resulting in his being commissioned by the Boston Balfet Company to §m- scribe and conduct the score of Ellington’s Ballet. “The Ro of. the Phoebe Snow.” He was featured on the weekly series “Jazz with Herb Pomeroy” on- WGBH—TV and has performed with Charlie Mariano. internationally-known saxephonist and recently of the Berklee faculty. ; The Herb Pomeroy Jazz Orchestra is unguestionably of _of _ the nation’s most prestigious. large jazz ensembles. It boasts a lineup of seasoned veterans whose former employers include the likes of such jazz giants as Woody Herman. Buddy Rich. and Tommy Dorsey. Many of the current personnel are mem- bers of the faculty at Berklee College of Music. including. of course.
