Concurrent Session lll 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. Concurrent Session lll And That Says What? Prince Rogers Nelson and Self-Expression (1983-1987) 22 Fenway, Room 112 Prince was one of the most prolific recording artists of the 20th century, releasing an astonishing body of work during his peak in the 1980s. Yet, with his passing in 2016, he left behind a trove of unreleased songs. What differentiates released from unreleased material, and how is an artist's public image shaped by these choices? In this session, Susan Rogers, MP&E faculty member and Prince’s recording engineer from 1983 to 1987, will offer insight into his artistic decision-making process and the question of public versus private identity. This session will compare album cuts with B-sides and unreleased material, suggesting that lyric content may have been the primary factor influencing the release of Prince’s music. —Presented by: Susan Rogers —Hosted by: Kenn Brass Lecture Capture at Berklee 22 Fenway, Room 314 This session will introduce participants to an exciting new lecture capture tool, Panopto, now available for all Berklee faculty.
