Berklee Performance Center Concerts

February 24 — New Music Festival - The second annual New Music Festival will
feature some of the best original music by Berklee student performers. Tuesday
February 24th will feature Rachel Solomon, Mystiq directed by Cody Geill,
Spectrum directed by lan Rapien, Andrew Douglass, and the group formerly
known as Mass Ave directed by Angela Johnson-Swan.These concerts are
sponsored by the Yo Team and the Student Activities Office.

February 25 — Write of Spring - This concert features original works of Jazz
Composition Department faculty Scott Free, Jeff Friedman, Richard Lowell,
Jackson Schultz and Bill Scism. Also, from the Contemporary Writing and
Production Department, faculty composer Ben Elkins was invited to present his
composition orchestrated for a twenty-piece ensemble. Richard Lowell’s large
ensemble composition will feature the dazzling clarinet work of special guest
performer Dick Johnson.

February 26 — From the Block to the Booth: The Evolution of Hip-Hop: Justin
Hughes & Max Joseph present original Hip Hop for 9 pieces and D tracing the
Hip Hop Scene from 1979 to 2003 including music by RUN DMC, the Sugar Hill
Gang, Grand master Flash, The Furious Five and more.
