Double Concert — MATSURI 11I/NIGHT CARNIVAL — In the first half of this double concert, guitarist Steve Pang leads his sextet, “Asian Wave;’ through a program of original Jazz fusion compositions. Then composer/arranger Hideo Abe offers a program of original big band jazz in "Night Carnival’’ LENNIE PETERSON'S TOOT — Faculty trombonlst Lennie Peterson retums to the Performance Center with his quintet, “Toot.” for an evening of original rock fusion showcasing selections from their recently released album. KIDD STUFF — Vocalist Billy Kidd presents a varled concert of original jazz, jazz/rock, and funk gompositions for big band, trio and large ensemble with special guest faculty guitarist Bill Brinkley. GREEN SOX — Guitarist Naoki Ninomiya presents “Green Sox;’ a program of original Jazz and fusion performed by his all-star quintet. THE DAZE OF "WHY" NLUROSIS — The Berklee Jazz Choir, led by faculty vocalist Steve Prosser, presents an evening of acapella singing in a variety of styles with arrange- ments by The King Singers, Prosser, and Billy Kidd. Double Concert — QUE MAXIMO/IMPRESSIONS OF VENEZUELA — In the first half of this double concert, vocalist/guitarist/composer Thanla Sanchez leads her octet In a program of original Latin-Jazz fusion compositions. Quitarist/composer Orlando Parra follows with original compositions in the style of Venezuelan music featuring special guests faculty saxophonist Bob Zung and faculty vibraphonist Victor Mendoza. Double Concert — A GUSH OF BEAT/KOINOTAKINOBORI — Opening this double concert, guitarist Jiro Yoshida leads a sextet In a program of original funk and fusion music with special guest, faculty trumpeter Dave Johnson. In the second half, original com- positions in the ECM fusion style will be performed by guitarist Atsushi Shibata and his sextet. Double Concert —FIRST STEP/WHAT IS THIS THING CALLED JAZZ? — To open this two-for-one concert, pianist Yukiyoshi Arimasa leads his quartet in a program of original straight-ahead jazz compositions and arrangements by himself and Naoki Ninomiya. In the second half composer/arranger Bertrand Sciberras leads both a six-horn ensemble and big band in a program of swing, ballads and bossa-nova originals. THE STEVE BAUER BAND — Faculty composer/arrangér Steve Bauer presents an evening * of big band Jazz and rock performed by an all-star band that includes faculty members Allan Chase, Henman Johnson and Dan Harrington (saxophones), Dave Johnson (rumpet), Bob Filkington (trombone) and Cliff Wittstruck (guitar). HANG ON TIGHT — Senior composers/arrangers Roberto Trevisan and Robert Sherman Join forces to showcase their writing talents in a program of jazz, pop, funk and muzak In settings ranging from quartet to small ensemble to big band with special guests faculty members Allan Chase, Bob Zung (saxophones), and Bob Pilkington (trombone). SUMMER NIGHTS — Bassist Yoshihiko Suwa leads asguintet in "Summer Nights” a program of original straight-ahead jazz, ballads and Lalin compositions. BACK BAY BRASS JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Faculty trombonist Ben Elkins leads this big band in a program of his own jazz compositions and arrangements. 7
