David Friend Recital Hall Concerts April 26 — [7:30 pm] Songwriter’s Circle 2006 - The Songwriting Department proudly presents another in the annual Songwriter’s Circle Series featuring four outstanding singer-songwriters performing solo and duo versions of their songs. This is an acoustic writers showcase which features ‘the song’ rather than ‘the arrangement.” This year’s showcase will feature Megan Burtt, Lucas Carpenter, James Farrell and Gabrielle Sadler performing three songs each in an acoustic setting featuring voices and guitar or piano. April 27 — [1:00pm] — Music of the Crusaders - Faculty saxophonist Dan Moretti leads this student ensemble through the best of the soul/ funk jazz pioneers, The Crusaders with com- positions and arrangements by Joe Sample, Wayne Henderson, and Stix Hooper. April 27 - [2:30pm] — Gospel: Traditional and Spirituals - Faculty member Dennis Montgomery presents small vocal ensembles performing traditional and spiritual Gospel Music. April 27 - [4:00pm] — Jazz Composition En- semble - The Jazz Composition Ensemble--a ten piece band with alto, tenor, baritone saxes, trumpets, trombone, guitar, piano, bass and drums-- performs original student composi- tions under the direction of Jazz Composition department chair Ken Pullig. April 27 — [7:30pm] — Terri Lyne Carrington Ensemble - This concert will feature original music by Terri Lyne Carrington, as well cho- sen originals by the students in the ensemble. Also, arrangements of popular pieces from the Beatles to Herbie Hancock will be included. April 28 — [1:00pm] — Acoustic Strings Ensemble - Ensemble department faculty member John McGann presents this Acoustic Strings ensemble in performance.
