Berklee Performance Center Concerts November 10-Singers’ Night - Outstanding student vocalists representing all semester levels will perform in a variety of styles including jazz, rock, R&B, country and Latin under the direction of the Singers Night Team. November 15-Oscar Stagnaro — Faculty bassist Oscar Stagnaro leads his band in a performance of various Latin music styles as part of Latin Culture Week. November 17- Eguie Castrillo's Palladium Night Orchestra: A Tribute to the Mambo Kings -Master conguero and Berklee associ- ate professor Eguie Castrillo leads his big band in a tribute to three of the seminal fig- ures in Latin music, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez and Machito, with special guest, faculty vibraphonist Victor Mendoza. November 22- The Berklee Tower of Power Ensemble -Soul and funk music of the famed Tower of Power band as well as Earth, Wind & Fire, and Stevie Wonder will be performed by this 5 horn, 5 vocal and 5 rhythm ensem- ble under the direction of faculty member Wayne Naus. November 29- The Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble and OverJoyed - Dennis Montgomery, lll directs the Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble and OverJoyed. This con- cert will feature both ensembles performing songs from various artists in traditional and contemporary gospel styles. November 30-Rainbow Band Presents A Berklee Jazz Festival - Big band jazz with vocals will be performed under the direction -of faculty composer, arranger, trombonist Phil Wilson. December 3-Presidential Inauguration - Inauguration of Roger Brown as President of Berklee College of Music, with honorary degree recipients Dennis Chambers and Chaka Khan. December 9 - Singers’ Showcase - Berklee's best student vocalists sing, whisper, belt, shout, croon, wail, rap, swing, scat, and holler in a program of pop, r&b, jazz and folk music. This semester's singer's are Jeremy Ragsdale, Evan Baughman, Natalie Fernandez, Melinda Colaizzi, Georgel Arevalo, J.C. Casely, Dave Petrelli, and Maeve Gilchrist. They will be performing the music of Aretha Franklin, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Janis Joplin, and many others. December 13 — Berklee String Orchestra with Joe Lovano - The Berklee String Orchestra conducted by Eugene Friesen presents Joe Lovano playing music by Eddie Sauter, Kenny Wheeler and Matthew Nicholl. Student soloists will also be featured in a variety of styles showcasing the rhythmic capabilities of strings. The concert will include works by Frank Bridge and Darol Anger. December 14 -Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra - Ben Elkins leads this 20-piece student big band in a program of contemporary arrange- ments and compositions for big band by Phil Potts, Thad Jones, Maria Schneider, Stand Kenton and Bill Holman with special guest vocalist and trombonist.
