February 22 February 23 February 24 February 25 Berklee Performance Center Concerls SPRING 1993 BASS DEPARTMENT STUDENT CONCERT—Berklee’s Bass Depart- ment showecases its student talent with a varied concert of jazz and fusion music performed by six different student groups under the direction of Department Chair Rich Appleman. Compositions include work by Bill Evans, Milton Nascimento, Mongo Santamaria, the Jamaica Boys, and the Tubes. ROCK ARRANGING LIVE!—Student work from the Commercial Arranging Department’s AR121 and 122 arranging classes will be performed by a student ensemble in a variety of instrumental settings under the direction of faculty members Mirek Kocandrle and Brian Lewis. VOCAL SUMMIT’S GREATEST HITS/VOCAL JAZZ ENSEMBLES— Voice Department faculty member Bob Stoloff presents his 12-piece a cappella ensemble performing original compositions and arrange- ments by Vocal Summit, True Image, Benny Golson, W.A. Mozart, Roger Treece, and Michele Weir in a variety of styles including free improvisation, jazz, funk, rock, folk, and traditional. Then, Voice Department faculty member Art LaPierre, presents four of Berklee’s Vocal Jazz ensembles performing jazz standards and compositions by Duke Ellington, Mel Torme, and Bobby Troup. WRITE OF SPRING—The Jazz Composition Department presents compositions by students and faculty in the department performed by an all-star faculty and student band. Legendary composer/arranger Clare Fischer will be present as guest of honor during his major residency at the college. A special arrangement of his composition Pensativa (with guaranteed correct chord changes!) by faculty mem- ber Dick Lowell will be featured.
