Berklee Performance Center Concerts April 15- Joe Stump- Faculty guitarist Joe Stump presents original rock composi- tions as part of Guitar Week performances. o 4 April 16- Peter Bernsteln - Visiting artist Peter Bernstein presents contemporary e jazz compositions as part of Guitar Week performances. April 22- Singer’s Showcase: The First 15 Years - This semester’s show will feature twenty lead vocalists performing music from the first fifteen years of Singer's Showcase concerts. The selections will include songs by Chaka Kahn, Kenny Loggins, Ella Fitzgerald, Sting, Anita Baker, Billy Joel, Barbara Steisand,Aretha Franklin, and many others. There will also be a special segment of video excerpts from past showcases featuring some of the colleges outstand- ing alums as well as a special song from Dennis Montgomery lll, and a special re- creation from the very first concert in 1983. “ April 23 - Wayfaring Strangers - String department Chair, violinist Matt Glaser, 5 presents a variety of styles and instrumental settings.(7:30p.m. start) April 26 - Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble - An evening of contemporary and traditional gospel music performed by Berklee's Reverence Gospel Ensemble directed faculty member Dennis Montgomery lll. Berklee's small gospel en- semble, Overjoyed, will also perform. April 27- Chord Scale Madness/Urban Outreach Jazz Orchestra Under the direction of Jazz Composition department faculty member Jackson Schultz, some v of the strongest student arrangements from the “Voicings Derived from Chord Scales” course will be performed by a large ensemble. Then Ensemble depart- ment faculty member Lin Biviano presents big band jazz in the style of the Count Basie, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson and Buddy Rich Bands performing compositions and arrangements by Sammy Nestico, Dizzy Gillespie, Slide Hampton and Count Basie and Tower of Power. Special guests include faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus and trumpeter Brian Wallace. April 28- An Evening with the Ralnbow Band - Phil Wilson leads the Berklee Rainbow Banding of standards and originals performed by some of Berklee's finest performers. April 29- Tribute to Duke Ellington - The Professional Writing Division sponsors this concert to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Duke Ellington. The music of Duke Ellington will be performed by The Berklee Concert Jazz > Orchestra, under the direction of Greg Hopkins, featuring vocalist Donna McElroy; The Really Eclectic String Quartet, under the direction of Mimi Rabson; and the Paul Beaudry Sextet, featuring vocalist Saudah Alakbar.
