In the second half, Katsu Tanaka, playing the Chapman stick and stick synthesizer, presents an evening of techno- Jazz-rock in solo, duet and trio settings. : WINNERS — Faculty composer/arranger/percussionist Greg McPherson and choreographer Leta Tavares present an evening of original music ip a variety of styles and settings from rhythm and blues to jazz to pop. Double Concert — A LITTLE CONCERTO/THE ANN M GROUP — Guitarist/composer Atsushi Shibata opens this double concert with a program of original jazz compositions for quartet. In the second half, The Ann M Group, led by keyboardist/composer Ann Maartmann, will perform original funk and fusion compositions. Do.1ble Concert — YURI LEE BIG BAND/MY IMAGE — Composer/ arranger/keyboardist Yuri Lee presents original contemporary jazz for big band with special guests faculty members Allan Chase, alto, Bill Scism, trumpet, and Bob Zung, alto. In the second half of this - double concert composer/arranger Eduardo Souza leads an eight- horn band in a program of jazz and Latin music by Ellington, Parker, Hermeto Pascual and others. JEFF FRIEDMAN BAND — Faculty guitarist/arranger Jeff Friedman leads a sexlet in an evening of original compositions and arrange- ments of jazz classics by Ellington, Monk, Mingus, Carla Bley, Gil Evans and others. Dauble Concert — DREAM OF A SUMMER NIGHT/CON LO LATINO POR DENTRO — Bassist/composer Yoshihiko Suwa opens this two-for-one concert with a program of straight-ahead jazz origi- nals for quartet. In the second half, composer/arranger/bassist Pengbian Sang directs a thirteen-piece ensemble through a program of jazz standards arranged in a Latin style as well as original Latin jazz fusion compositions.
