speak to this theme at our first post-merger BTOT: with a background in dance, music, and theater, she is, as Boston Magazine put it, “a nostalgist and an innovator, a stylist and storyteller.” An innovative and creative theater director, she has tirelessly crossed boundaries between genres and art forms, often using performance space in unexpected ways. In 2010, for instance, she staged a production of Haydn'’s 1777 Il mondo della luna in New York City’s Hayden Planetarium, fusing live 18th-century opera buffa with astronomical projections provided by NASA. We are also delighted to present the eighth annual Distinguished Faculty Awards to recognize excellence in teaching, which for the first time this year includes the Conservatory. The large number of nominations from students, faculty, and staff testifies to the success our faculty has in engaging students—no matter the subject—whether they meet in Boston, Spain, or online. This year's awardees are listed at the end of this program—please join me in congratulating them. | hope that your time at BTOT is rewarding and thought-provoking, and that the energy of these two days stays with you throughout the spring semester and beyond.
