November 9 November 10 November 16 November 19 Berklee Performance Center Concerts FALL 1992 BOSTON SAXOPHONE WORKSHOP with CLAUDE DELANGLE— As part of Berklee’s Boston Saxophone Workshop, Claude Delangle will perform romantic and modern music for saxophone. Concert artist, educator, and champion of new music for saxophone, Claude Delangle is presently saxophone soloist with Pierre Boulez's En- semble Intercontemporain and Professor of Saxophone at the Na- tional Superior Conservatory of Music of Paris. Music by Grieg, Schumann, Ravel, Villa-Lobos, as well as contemporary work by Niculescu and Denisov will be performed with Odile Delangle, piano. Mr. Delangle will be accompanied by pianist Odile Delangle. Ms.- Delangle won a gold medal from the National Conservatory of Lyon in 1973, was awarded Laureate at Maria Canals International Competi- tion in Barcelona in 1977, and was nominated Professor of Piano at the National Superior Conservatory of Music of Paris in 1978. She performs around Europe as a soloist and with a chamber music group. BERKLEE FACULTY BRASS ENSEMBLE—Brass Department Chair Tom Plsek and faculty trumpeter/composer Greg Hopkins wind up Brass Day at Berklee with a program of compositions by faculty members Greg Hopkins, Bruce Thomas, Phil Wilson, Ted Pease, Bob pPilkington, Tom Plsek, and alumnus Lars Lindvall. In addition to performance by the entire ensemble, there will be appearances by the duo Bare 'Bones, Phil Wilson and Tom Plsek, and a smaller ensemble performing selections from the famous “Birth of the Cool” sessions. BERKLEE CONCERT WIND ENSEMBLE—This 45-piece ensemble, under the direction of Assistant Chair of the Compositon Department Gregory Fritze consists of woodwinds, brass, and percussion. They will perform a concert of twentieth century music for winds including works by Gustav Holst, Dimitri Shostakovich, Ron Nelson, Fred Fox, and Vincent Persichetti. SINGER SHOWCASE—In its 10th year, the Performance Studies Department’s Yo Team Productions presents eight of Berklee's finest vocalists performing the music of Billy Joel, Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, Peter Gabriel, and many others in a variety of instrumental settings and arrangements written especially for this event. ¥ \
