34 Concurrent Session IV Applying South Indian Rhythmic and Melodic Concepts in Composition 150 Massachusetts Avenue, Room 118 This session will explore several South Indian (Carnatic) rhythmic and melodic concepts and show how to apply them in a composition. The presenter will teach several rhythmic structures through audience participation, and then show how they can be applied in writing using the presenter’s pieces for strings with scores and audio/video.
