April 5 April 7 April 11 April 12 April 14 April 19 April 21 April 25 Berklee Per formance Center Concerts SPRING 1988 SPRING AHEAD —The Commercial Arranging Department pre- sents its annual concert featuring the writing and performing talents of department faculty under the direction of Richard Grudzinski. SONGWRITERS’ NIGHT— Winning songs from the 1987—88 song- writing contest in.a variety of styles are presented by Songwriting Department Chairman Jack Perricone. BERKLEE CONCERT WIND ENSEMBLE— Compositions by Hindemith, Schwartner and Mozart will be presented by Greg Fritze and the Concert Wind Ensemble with special guest flutist Katie Down, the winner of the student Concerto Competition. Double Concert—A SPRING CONCERT/ONE NIGHT AT THE TROPICANA —In the first half of this concert Voice Depart- ment faculty member Anne Peckham presents the 31-voice Concert Choir in a performance that will include music by Handel, Brahms and Bartok. Also featured will be a premiere of a piece by student composer David Cobb, performed by the combined Concert Choir and College Singers directed by Voice Department Chairman Kenneth Greenhouse. In the second half Voice Department faculty member Cheryl Hodge presents The Boppers in a jazz vocal concert of works by Lambert Hendricks & Ross, Manhattan Transfer, Eddie Jefferson, The Pointer Sisters and others. INTERNATIONAL NIGHT—Yo Team Productions and the Dean of Students Office present Berklee'’s Second Annual International Music Night showcasing indigenous and traditional music from the many countries represented by the college’s diverse foreign population. The concert will be performed by a variety of ensembles in native dress and an international foods banquet after the show will com- plete the experience. THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA —Renowned faculty trumpeter/arranger Herb Pomeroy leads the most prestigious ensem- ble in the college in a program of contemporary big band music. SINGERS’ SHOWCASE—Some of Berklee’s finest vocalists join together for a varied concert of arrangements written especially for this event in a variety of styles under the direction of Performance Studies Department faculty member Ken Zambello in conjunction with Yo Team Productions. GUITAR NIGHT XII—The Berklee Guitar Department presents its top ensembiles in its annual showcase concert embracing all facets of guitar from jazz to bluegrass.
