Spanish Moss Scott Free Spanish Moss was inspired by a painting done by Scott’s sister. The painting is of a swamp in Louisiana where they both grew up. Where’d This Come From? Jackson Schultz My original intent was to write an up-tempo blues. However, in the process I stumbled upon the theme with it’s harmonic implications and minor tonality. The form evolved into the 1st section being 9 bars, the 2nd 10 bars and the 3rd section 11 bars long. Go figure!! #18 Lester Menezes This composition reflects Lester’s fascination with numerology. Kulaishi _ Masako Hamamura Kulaishi is the name of the street where Masako lives in Kobe, Japan. The composition’s mood is reminiscent of a traditional Japanese song. Herb’s Hair Shift Bill Scism This piece reflectys a circa 1939 Duke Ellington-esque composition. It was inspired by Duke’s Harlem Air Shaft. The title is in tribute to the “Doctor”, Herb Pomeroy.
