Jobim, and George Gershwin. April 20, 2:30pm - Joe Lovano’s 52 St. Ensemble — Modern jazz by Monk, Tyner, Gordon and others performed by a student ensemble under the direction of Visiting Professor Joe Lovano. April 20, 4:00pm - 21%t Century Ensemble — contemporary modern jazz originals by members of the ensemble will be performed by a sextet under the direction of Visiting Professor Joe Lovano. April 20, 7:30pm- Songwriters’ Circle 2004 — Songwriter’s Circle is an acoustic writers showcase which features “the song” rather than “the arrangement.” Inspired by the Songwriter’s Circle at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tennessee, our pro- duction follows the slightly more formal presentation of the Songwriter’s Circle in New York City. This year's showcase will feature: Andrew Douglass, Kate Klim, Rachel Loy, and Matt Pryor. Each of them will be performing three songs in an acoustic setting featuring voices and guitar or piano. The show will feature a variety of musical styles and a patchwork of lyrical topics. April 21, 1:00pm- The Music of Wayne Shorter — Faculty member Dave Santoro leads this ensemble performing the music of the famed saxophonist and composer. April 21, 2:30pm- Blue Note Era Music - Faculty member David Santoro presents his student ensemble performing jazz from the Blue Note recordings of the 1950’s and ‘60s. April 21, 4:00pm-Straight-Up Stuff — The music of Woody Shaw, Wayne Shorter, Cedar Walton and Charlie Parker will be performed by a student quintet directed by Herman Hampton. April 21, 7:30pm- Contemporary Wind Ensemble — Under the direction of faculty member Peter Cokkinias, this ensemble performs in mixed musical styles including Romantic, Impressionism and Modern. April 22, 1:00pm- Brazillian Jazz- Various Brazilian music styles and compositions by Hermeto Pascoal, Miilton Nascimento and others will be performed by this en- semble under the direction of faculty member Fernando Brandao.
