Berklee Performance Center Concerts Spring 1998 March 23 - The Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble - Faculty vocalist Robin Ginnenthal presents the premiere concert of a new faculty based group called The Pierrot Lunaire Ensemble. The concert includes a performance of Pierrot Lunaire, Opus 21, by composer Arnold Schoenberg with faculty performers Robin Ginenthal, soprano, David Callahan, conductor and Louis Stewart, piano and Mimi Rabson, violin. The members of the ensemble are well known for their work in the Boston area and have performed with such groups as Brookline Symphony, Conservatory Klezmer Band, Dinosaur Annex, Alea III, The Merrimack Valley Philharmonic, Cantata Singers, and Extension Works. March 24 - Not Your Grandfather’s Big Band/Say No to Do - The Ear Training Department faculty present a two part concert. Berklee facutly member Brian Lewis presents NYGBB featuring original jazz and fusion arrangements and performances by faculty members Daryl Lowery, Bruce Nifong, Greg Badolato, Bob Patton, saxophones; Scott DeOgburn, Dave Johnson and Brian Lewis, trumpets; Jeff Galindo, trombone; Mitch Seidman, guitar; Paul DelNero, Winston Maccow, bass; Tony Germain, piano; and students Joe De Rose, drums, Ben Adams, vibes and Tomas Trullson, saxophones. In the second half, original compositions by guitar faculty member Mark White and Ear Training faculty Scott De Ogburn will be performed by them with saxophonist Greg Badolato and bassist Winston Maccow and student drummer Charles Haynes. March 25- Rock Arranging Live - The 11th annual Rock Arranging Live concert highlights the best music written by some of the most talented student songwriters and arrangers. Under the direction of faculty members Mirek Kocandrle and Richard Grudzinski, this concert will present a variety of original compositions as well as new arrangements of standard rock/pop repertoire featuring some of the college’s finest vocalists and instrumentalists with special guest guitar faculty member Lauren Passarelli. March 26 - Percussion Unlimited - Berklee’s premiere Percussion Ensemble, led by department chair Dean Anderson, performs works by Steve Reich and others. March 31- Special Interest Groups - During Ensemble week, Department chair Orville Wright and assistant chair Bruce Nifong present various ensembles devoted to the work of individual artists. Featured groups include the Wayne Shorter Ensemble directed by Bruno Raberg; the Cedar Walton Ensemble directed by Marcello Pellitteri; the Wes Montgomery Ensemble directed by David Hollender; the Yellowjackets Ensemble directed by Dave Weigert as well as vocal and rhythm section ensembles showcasing the diversity of the department’s The Performance Center at Berklee College of Music is a Ticketmaster outlet.
