Berklee Performance Center Concerts March 14 Jazz Vocal Series—Voice Department faculty member Maggi Scott presents student vocalists performing jazz standards accompanied by a faculty rhythm section with Dave Clark, bass, and Bob Stoloff, drums. March 15 Write of Spring—The Jazz Composition Department’s annual spring concert will present an array of new compositions for instrumentations ranging from quintet to full big band. Featured writers include Jazz Composition Department faculty members Scott Free, Jeff Friedman, Dick Lowell, Bill Scism, and Jackson Schultz as well as outstanding student writers Masaka Hamamura and Lester Menezes. March 16 An Evening with Robert Stanton/Norman Zocher Trio—A program of acoustic and electric guitar music in country, blues, jazz, and classical styles will be presented by Performance Studies Department faculty member Robert Stanton. Many original compositions will be featured and special guests include String Department Chair Matt Glaser and bassist Roger Kimball. In the second half, Guitar Department faculty member Norman Zocher presents original guitar oriented jazz compositions performed by his trio. March 17 The Music of the Yellowjackets/The Berklee Buddy Rich Ensemble—Ensemble Department faculty member David Weigert presents the jazz fusion music of the Yellowjackets performed by a four-piece ensemble. In the second half, faculty trumpeter Wayne Naus leads Berklee’s Buddy Rich Ensemble in a program of big band jazz in the style of the late bandleader.
