Berklee Performance Center Concerts TN October 27-Fall Together - Fall Together '04 will be the 20th concert we've presented in this series which started in 1985. Featured composers are: Greg Hopkins, Bob Pilkington, Marc Rossi, Bruce Thomas, Phil Wilson, and Ken Pullig. Ensemble size will range from small group to big band and fea- ture an all-star cast of performers that includes students, faculty, and staff. The fea- tured piece of the evening is Ken Pullig's “Politickle Your Fancy"", a 30-minute jazz oratorio that addresses the subject matter of politics and the presidential election. It will feature special guest Rebecca Shrimpton who will be both vocalist and narrator. November 1-Winds Day - Christine Fawson & Karin Harris/Jim Snidero November 2-Ryu Nagata Quartet - Guitarist Ryu Nagata presents original contemporary jazz inspired by ECM recording label’s Brad Mehldau, Mick Goodrick and others. His quartet will feature Juan G. Galiardo, piano, Hogyu Hwang, bass and Nick Falk, drums. Songs of Peace — Saxophonist Michael Birnbryer presents songs of peace by John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Horace Silver and others performed by James Williams, Peter Stoltzman, Curtis Madigan, and Khari Lee. November 4- Contemporary Writing and Production Faculty Concert - This year’s annual Contemporary Writing and Production concert will feature original com- positions by department faculty. Music for winds, strings and rhythm section will be played by a band of Berklee faculty led by CWP Chair Matthew Nicholl. The concert will be extremely diverse, covering a wide range of styles including Latin, jazz, world, funk and R&B. November 10-Singers’ Night - Outstanding student vocalists representing all semester levels will perform in a variety of styles including jazz, rock, R&B, country and Latin under the direction of the Singers Night = Team. w » November 15-Oscar Stagnaro — Faculty bassist Oscar Stagnaro leads his band in a performance of various Latin music styles as ™ part of Latin Culture Week. 3 g November 17- Eguie Castrillo's Palladium =z Night Orchestra: A Tribute to the Mambo W Kings -Master conguero and Berklee associ- = W ate professor Eguie Castrillo leads his big band in a tribute to three of the seminal fig- - ures in Latin music, Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez and Machito, with special guest, faculty vibraphonist Victor Mendoza. November 22- The Berklee Tower of Power s Ensemble -Soul and funk music of the famed Tower of Power band as well as Earth, Wind & Fire, and Stevie Wonder will be performed by this 5 horn, 5 vocal and 5 rhythm ensem- ble under the direction of faculty member Wayne Naus.
