September 27 October 2 October 3 October 9 October 10 October 11 October 15 October 16 October 18 October 23 October 24 October 25 October 29 October 30 October 31 November 1 November 5 November 6 November 7 Berklee Concerts at the Performance Center “ApGuGa Records presents The Fringe”, directed by faculty member Rich Appleman, this highly acclaimed jazz trio deals in the most adventuresome of jazz styles. “Moksha — In and Out”, faculty member Wayne Naus, the former Buddy Rich trumpeter lead his own quintet in an evening of adventuresome jazz “Primavera”, this student group, directed by Paolo Manavelio, presents an unusual instrumentation that features two drummers. two key- boardists, bass, and guitar. “A Tribute to John Lennon”, an evening dedicated to the music of Lennon. with the Vocal Dept. and a small band, directed by facglty member John Stevens. ; = “Prebop Meets the Swing Machine”, ex-Herman, Rich Ferguson trombonist, Rick Stepton leads his own small group in an evening of jazz music Booga Booga, student composer Frank Macchia directs a new group in an evening of funk/fusion music of the highest quality. The Mike Metheny Quartet, faculty member Mike Metheny leads his quartet in an evening of straight ahead jazz, which presents some of the most mellow sounds around. Randy Sabien/Larry Baione, Guitarist Baione and violinist Sabien present an innovative evening of solo and duet music, ranging from jazz a la Stephanie Grappelli to the contemporary. “Out At Home”, faculty member Dick Odgren is joined by his brother alumnus Jim in an evening of small group modern jazz. Murray Marder, an evening of pop/country & western led by vocalist; guitarist Marder. who is supported by a small back-up groupy 7 “Hypertension”, directed by student Steve Jenkins, this group is one of the top funk bands in the area a la Earth. Wind and Fire. “The Mike Scott Concert”, Faculty member Scott leads his “little big band” in a performance of his own compositions. Mimi Brodsky/Mark Ledford, two mini concerts in one evening. Brodsky and Ledford, two of the better student vocalists, lead their respective groups in an evening of pop, rock and jazz “The Jeff Friedman Orchestra”, faculty member Friedman, leads his jazz ensemble in an evening of music a la Mingus, Ellington, etc. All the music is composed or arranged by the leader. Randy Miller, student Miller presents a musical theater production featuring some of Berklee’s better student performers. “The Berklee Film Festival — Reel 3”, annual screening of films for which music has been composed, scored, and performed by Berklee students, coordinated by Don Wilkins. “Here We Go Again — Orchestra Tropica”, one of the fine latin groups in the area led by student trumpeters Edgard Nevarez and Tommy Villariny “North Goes South”, faculty member Orville Wright leads a medium size faculty band through an evening of originals and standards that bridge a variety of jazz styles. “Just Us”, an evening of big band music led by faculty member Paul Dioguardi.
