Feb. 27 Feb. 28 March 2 March 6 March 7 Berklee Performance Center Concerts SPRING 1989 JUBILANT DOMAIN OF SCHEMATIC CHANCE —A diverse group of Berklee faculty members join together under the direction of Stephany Tiernan, Scott Fessler and Greg Fritze to pay tribute to contemporary composer John Cage in a concert of his music. Pieces performed will be drawn from five decades of Mr. Cage’s work includ- ing pieces prepared for piano, voice, string quartet, trombone and percussion and percussion ensemble. MAINSTREAM REVISITED — Commercial Arranging Department Assistant Chairman Bud Billings leads a ten-piece faculty ensemble ina program of original compositions and arrangements by Dennis Grillo, Bob Freedman and Bud Billings. STATE OF THE HEART II—Songwriting Department faculty member Jimmy Kachulis presents original pop-rock compositions by department faculty performed by a rhythm section and vocalists. THIS IS NOT YOUR FATHERS BIG BAND/THE BERKLEE CHARTEATERS—Faculty composer/arranger Brian Lewis pre- sents his student and faculty big band in a program of contempo- rary originals in a variety of styles featuring rock and Latin. Featured faculty performers include Wayne Naus and Jerry Cecco, trumpet, Lennie Peterson, trombone and Rick Peckham, guitar. In the second half of this two-for-one concert, faculty composer/arranger/bassist Richard Evans directs the Berklee Charteaters performing arrange- ments by Evans and advanced arranging students in big band jazz, rock and Latin styles. CHORDS “R” US—Harmony Department Chairman Barrie Nettles presents a concert of original student compositions arranged and performed by Harmony Department Faculty. A wide variety of musical styles and harmonic idioms will be covered and featured performers will include Wayne Naus and Dave Johnson, trumpets, Danny Harrington, baritone saxophone, Barbara London, flute, Alex Ulanowsky, piano, Stephen Rochinski, guitar, and Jeff Link, bass.
