Berklee Performance Center Concerts October 1 — Leo Blanco Group — Faculty pianist Leo Blanco performs original world jazz compositions with his group including faculty members Bruno Raberg, bass; Rick DiMuzio, saxophone, Jamey Haddad, drums and percussion and Eugene Friesen, cello. October 3 — American Fruit with African Roots - Voice department faculty member Lawrence “Larry’ Watson prepares for a national tour to promote his Fall Release CD American Fruit with African Roots. The twelve cut CD is a musical social history and social commentary cover- ing our triumphs and failures. It will be an evening to educate, entertain and heal. This concert will feature several never heard before composi- tions from the soon to be released CD and a medley of songs from his first CD, The Journey. Larry's special guest for the evening will be the vocal legend Ms. Tata Vega, the voice of “Shug” in the Spielberg Motion picture, The Color Purple. She has also been the lead singer for the Andre Crouch Group. The All Star Band will be headed up by the extraordinary drummer Les Cleveland. October 11 — Dino Govoni & Friends - Dino Govoni will be presenting an evening of original jazz compositions by Jeff Galindo, Andy McWain and Dino Govoni in trio to quintet format. October 15 - Syncopation Vocal Jazz Quartet — Pop, jazz, and standards in four-part harmony featuring vocalists faculty members Christine Fawson, David Thorne Scott, as well as alumi Tsunenori “Lee” Abe, and student Aubrey Logan will be performed with a rhythm section. October 16 — The Lazlo Gardony Trio — Faculty pianist Laszlo Gardony, faculty bassist John Lockwood and Assistant Chair Percussion depart- ment Yoron Israel will perform origi- nals as well as original arrangements of standards which feature original harmonizations, grooves, improvisa- tions, arrangements and a lot of interplay between trio members.
