Berklee Performance Center Concerts November 9 - Jazz Vocal Series - Voice department faculty member Maggi Scott presents a select group of singers—David Alfaro, Sandra Aran, Pernille Aidt, Andrea Capozzoli, Michal Cohen, Jennifer Laws, Sara Lieb, Chrissie Poland and Marianne Sulivan— to perform jazz standards accompanied by a trio including Maggie Scott, piano, marco Panascia, bass and George melikishvili, drums. November 10 - Patti Austin - Special guest artist Patti Austin performs as part of Voice week activities. Her career’s high notes include the evergreen duets with James Ingram, the r'n’b hit “The Heat of Heat” that she cut with Jam and Lewis at the controls; and her two decades of collaboration with Quincy Jones on works including “Juke Joint” and “The Dude.” Before she was ten years old, Patti was out performing with greats like Sammy Davis Jr, her godfather Quincy Jones, and godmother Dinah Washing- ton. As a teen she was already appearing in Broadway shows and after graduation from high school, Patti began playing across the country. She started right at the top on a tour with Harry Belafonte when she was 17. Ms. Austin’s instant success consolidated into a varied career, including a legendary run as a session singer. Patti has been nominated for a Golden Globe, a Grammy and an Academy Award. November 17 - An Evening of West African Drum & Dance from Ghana. - Percussion department faculty Joe Galeota Jr. presents the Berklee West g African Drum & Dance Ensembles performing music and dance from the Ga, Gargati and Dagbani peoples of Ghana and Togo. Special guests include Professor David Locke, w the Kiniwe Ensemble from Tufts University, and Ghanaian Master Drummer, Emmanuel Agbeli. November 29 - Healing - The Berklee Reverence Gospel Ensemble, and the small group, Overjoyed, under the direction of Dennis Montgomery Il, present an evening of contemporary and traditional gospel music composed by Dennis Montgomerey and David Balfour. “ December 2 - Singer’s Showcase - This semester’s Showcase will feature Gina Cuchetti, Matt Cusson,Joelene Barnes, Nick Dekoff, Nia Allen, Adam Moore, Rhea Dummett, Kevin Wood, and Erin Vulgamore. They will performing the music of Sting, Christina Aquilera, Phil Collins, The Brand New Heavies, Brian McKnight, Bette Midler, Billy Joel, Jennifer Lopez, and others.
