Apr. 13 Apr. 14 Apr. 15 Apr. 16 Apr. 21 Apr. 23 Apr. 27 Apr. 28 Apr. 30 Berklee 1’(:;‘]01‘111({1 1ce Center Concerts SPRING 1987 BERKLEE CONCERT WIND ENSEMBLE — Contemporary classical music and the winning Concerto Competition composition will be performed by this ensemble under the direction of faculty composer/ tubist Grégory Fritze with concerto soloist Maki Ohnuki. : AM I HIGH? — Guitar Department Assistant Chairman Mike Thde presents Flat Rats and Sail Cats in an evening of country, bluegrass, western swing and rock styles with special guest banjo player Hiro Arita, 1986 National Bluegrass Banjo C%ampion. THE MUSIC OF JERONIMAS KACINSKAS — Senior faculty composer Jeronimas Kacinskas will be honored with this concert of his contemporary classical compositions played by mixed chamber ensembles under the direction of faculty flutist Matt Marvuglio. SONGWRITERS’ NIGHT III — Songwriting Department Chairman Jack Perricone and faculty composer Pat Pattison present the winning songs of Songwriters’ Competition 111 in concert with top student players and performers. THE BERKLEE CONCERT JAZZ ORCHESTRA — Famed faculty trumpeter/arranger Herb Pomeroy directs the college’s most prestigious ensemble in an evening of contemporary big band music. INTERNATIONAL NIGHT — Yo Team Productions and the Dean of Students Office present Berklee’s first international music concert showcasing the indigenous and traditional music of twelve countries including China, Chile, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, and Scotland performed by a variety of ensembles in native dress. An international foods banquet will be held after the show to complete this celebration of Berklee’s diverse foreign community. GUITAR NIGHT XI — Guitar Department Chairman William Leavitt presents the totp guitar ensembles in the annual showcase concert embracing all facets of guitar from jazz to bluegrass. GENEALOGY — Faculty vocalist Steve Prosser and his jazz choir pay sgecial tribute to famed vocal arranger and singer Gene Puerling. The choir will perform a diverse program of a capella music featuring some of Puerling’s arrangements with special guest faculty vocalist Bob Stoloff. SINGERS' SHOWCASE — Some of Berklee’s finest vocalists join together for a varied concert of arrangements written especially for this event in a variety of styles under the direction of Ensemble Department Chairman Orville Wright and Performance Studies Department Chairman Rob Rose.
