Berklee Performance Center Concerts - December 1-It's Always the Music — A vari- ety of student ensembles will perform under the direction Ensemble department chair Ron Savage. They'll include The Afro-Cuban Allstars directed by Victor Mendoza; The Music of Art Blakey Ensemble directed by Ron Mahdi; The Bluegrass Ensemble directed by Dave Hollender; The Contemporary Christian Ensemble directed by Nancy Morris; and The Hip Hop Ensemble directed by Winston Macow. December 3 - Presidential Inauguration Concert - Concert marking the Inauguration of Roger Brown as President of Berklee College of Music, with honorary degree recipients Dennis Chambers and-Chaka Khan. December 9 - Singers’ Showcase - Berklee's best student vocalists sing, whisper, belt, shout, croon, wail, rap, swing, scat, and holler in a program of pop, r&b, jazz and folk music. This semester's singer's are Jeremy Ragsdale, Evan Baughman, Natalie Fernandez, Melinda Colaizzi, Georgel Arevalo, J.C. Casely, Dave Petrelli, and Maeve Gilchrist. They will be performing the music of Aretha Franklin, Usher, Christina Aguilera, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Janis Joplin, and many others. December 13 — Berklee String Orchestra with Joe Lovano - The Berklee String Orchestra conducted by Eugene Friesen presents Joe Lovano playing music by Eddie Sauter, Kenny Wheeler and Matthew Nicholl. Student soloists will also be featured in a variety of styles showcasing the rhythmic capabilities of strings. The concert will include works by Frank Bridge and Darol Anger.
