Berklee Performance Center Concerts April 4- John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band with Jackie Santos — guest artists John Cafferty and Beaver Brown band with Berklee faculty member Jackie Santos on drums perform original rock and roll songs from among their best selling hits. ; April 5- Jazz Night with Lewis Nash & Yoron Israel — This concert will open with Assistant Chair of Percussion Yoron israel and his group “Connection” with Assistant Guitar department Chair Rick Peckahm, faculty vibraphonist Victor Mendoza and saxophonnist Walter Smith with guest bassist Bob Nieske. The quintet will play original compositions by Yoron Israel. Then renowned drummer Lewis Nash will perform with Smith, pianist Milton Fletcher and Nieske. Mr. Yoron Israel and Nash will perform together in a final selection. April 6- World Percussion Night — An evening of World music featuring 3 student ensembles led by faculty members Mike Ringquist, Joe Galeota and Equie Castrillo performing West African, Brazilian and Caribbean music. April 7 - Pas Rock Night with Mike Mangini & Hillary Jones — Percussion department faculty member Mike Mangini and guest artist Hilary Jones (drummer for Lee Ritenour, Robben Ford and others) will perform a selection of popular rock and rhythm & blues songs together and sepa- rately accompanied by the Boston band “Hypercane.” Gary Cherone of Extremen and Van Halen will contribute lead vocals on some songs. April 10- Professional Writing Division Awards - The eighth annual Professional Writing Division Student Awards Concert will features the compositions of six award-winning students, each representing one of the six departments of the Writing Division. April 11- Back Bay Brass Jazz Orchestra - Faculty trombonist composer/ arranger Ben Elkins leads the Back Bay Brass in a program of contempo- rary jazz for big band.
