Berklee College of Music Concerts The David Friend Recital Hall April 22 - Traditional Music of West Africa - Music, songs and dances of the Ewe, Dagomba, Ga and Milenke people from Ghana and Guinea, West Africa will be performed by students under the direction of Percussion faculty member Joe Galeota with Ryan Edwards a featured soloist. April 23 - Kaye Kelly Master’s Recital - Masters Student Performance - Master's Degree candidate vocalist Kaye Kelly presents a mixture of traditional and contemporary jazz including pieces from Diane Reeves, Kevyn Lettau and the Yellowjackets performed by her quartet. May 4 - Musical Theater - Starting Here, Starting Now - Voice department faculty members Sharon Brown and Anne Peckham present the Musical Theater Workshop Class in a musical revue, Starting Here, Starting Now , lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr. and music by David Shire. Musical direction is by Wayne Ward and Steve Sussman. The show is double-cast and will be presented in two evenings. It includes songs such as Autumn, Crossword Puzzle ,and I Don’t Remember Christmas. May 5 - Frank Withey Master’s Recital - Jazz Performance Master’s Degree candidate guitarist Frank Withey presents his quintet peerforming a wide variety of electric and acoustic jazz compositions by Michael Brecker, Pat Martino, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane and others as well as some originals. The quintet features Christian Bausch, bass, faculty keyboardist Steve Heck, drummer Chris Poudrier and John Arruda, saxophone.
