“Berklee “Faculty Association Goncert “Series The Fringe began "sessioning/rehearsing” around the end of our senior year at Berklee in 1972. We were friends whose main pur- pbose was to become better jazz improvisers. Over the years the group has worked to develop a free improvi- sation format. Diligence and hard work combined with consistent performance (four years of Monday nights at Michael's Pub, three Boston Globe Jazz Festivals, three all-night concerts for the Boston Jazz Coalition, and an album) has enabled us to gchieve what, we feel is cohesive group freedom. Tonight as always we use our experience, seriousness and souls to play what we play. Richard Appleman
