Halloween Concert of original compositions and new arrangements of jazz standards. November 2 Full Trunk — Directed by Andy Jaffe. This concert will feature faculty member Jaffe’s compositions; for solo piano, chamber music small and big band jazz. November 3 There Is Time/The Jarmo Savolainen Group — A divided concert opening with guitarist Jenne Rick's jazz/funk/folk/rock big band and closing with the contem- porary, straight-ahead jazz compositions of pianist Savolainen in a sextet setting. November4 Joe CohniLes Arbuckle/Steve Johns/Ed Felson — An evening of jazz stana- ards, bebop and blues is presented by faculty member Les Arbuckle and his quartet, November 5 Y Sigue La Salsa, with Orchesira Tropica — Directed by Edgard Nevarez & Tommy Villariny — A concert of “Salsa”; contemporary AfraeAntillian music. The program will showcase Guaguanco, Charanga, Meremgue and Bomba rhythms as well as some Latin fusion and Latin compositions. November 9 The Harry Miller Band/Solar Wind — A divided program. The Harry Miller Band, an electric, acoustic quintet, playing composed and improvised jazz-related music will perform in the first hailf and Jeanne Stap and Mark Nooney will follow with their jazz/rock/funk/fusion band in the second half, November 10 An Evening with Lenora Helm — \Vocalist Lenora Helm invites everyone fo enjoy an evening of contemporary music with an emphasis on jazz and funk. Faculty member Orville Wright will be featured guest soloist. November 12 Music for Cane, Skin, Tubes & Transistors — Directed by Randy Felts. The title translate into music for reeds, percussion, brass and electronics respectively. Faculty member Felts presents his music to you in a variety of settings and styles ranging from experimental electronic fo contemporary pop. November 16 Mariano Morales in Concert — Mariano Morales’ big band and orchestra present an evening of Latin music dedicated to Bonifacia Solts Lazu. November 17 Berklee Concert }azz Orchesira — Directed by Herb Pomeroy. Berklee's oldest and most prestigious big band jazz ensemble returns for their annual fall concert. November 18 Stairway to the Stars — Vocalist Sheila “Harmony” Ford dedicates the first hatf of her show to Ella Fifzgerald. Musical styles will range from jazz fo gospel to funk in quartet, big band and Gospel ensemble settings. November 19 The Promise of Love. — Student Gilbert King presents a program that blends jazz standards with his own funk compositions; promising an exciting evening of good music. November 23 Pop Chops Ilit Don't Mean A Thing — A concert of popular music written by Spector and other group members in the first half of this “two-for-one” show. The second half features fraditional and contemporary big band music with arrangements by leaders pianist Sam Steffke and trumpeter George Pierce. November 24 The Peter Dick Group/C.C. and Company — A split concert. Peter Dick's progressive jazz group performs in the first half. A show of commercial jazz/funk standards is directed by vibist Cecilia Smith in the second hallf. [p)
