Biographical/Historical note

Dedicated in 1998, the Stan Getz Library is committed to collecting and providing access to both electronic and print resources for music materials and to providing bibliographic, reference, and instructional support for Berklee’s research, scholarly, and creative pursuits. The Library’s Media Development Office receives event recordings and related materials from various campus offices, including Video Services and the Concert Office, and prepares these materials for inclusion in the library and college archives collections, as appropriate.

Scope and Contents note

This ongoing collection is comprised of audio and video recordings of Berklee College of Music events from campus venues including the: Berklee Performance Center, Lawrence and Alma Berk Recital Hall, Steve Heck Room, David Friend Recital Hall, Red Room, and Stan Getz Library & Media Center, from 1995 - to the present. The sources of these recordings include Berklee’s Concert Office, Video Services, and the library’s Media Development Office. Recordings include clinics, master classes, concerts, commencement ceremonies, and library events.

Conditions Governing Access note

This non-circulating collection is open for research use by appointment on site at the college archives (Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with evening hours available upon request). Advance notice is required to retrieve archival items because these materials are stored offsite. Use of audiovisual materials may require the production of listening or viewing copies. To schedule an appointment or request further information, please email ( or call (617-747-8001) the college archivist.

Conditions Governing Use note

The college archives is unable to provide personal copies of Berklee Performance Center event recordings due to copyright restrictions. Performers, please note: it is the policy of Video Services to distribute a master copy to event leaders. It is up to the event leaders to produce and distribute any copies of their event based on their individual resources.
